THE PETERSON RESIDENCE

This residence was designed with a focus on connecting the main communal spaces with the private outdoor spaces. The south facing private front patio is separate from the yard by an eight foot privacy fence that provides protection from the sun. It also has includes a fireplace for days of cooler temperatures. The north facing patio provides a comfortable environment, and leads to a intimate covered rear facing courtyard.

Upon entering the residence, you are met with full bodied fixed windows that look out into the rear courtyard, and the sparsely treed backyard. Walking into the living room, you will see the wood burning fireplace, the immediately introduced to lots of north facing natural light from another set of full bodied windows, and a sliding patio door to the back patio. The living room, dining area, and the kitchen are arranged in an open concept layout. The primary bedroom is on the opposite end of the residence from the other two bedrooms, and separated by the communal spaces. The office, being adjacent to the primary bedroom, also has access to the private front patio.

The Peterson Residence is located in Royse City, Texas during a time of rapid economic and population growth. This project was designed on a standard in-fill lot in a well established neighborhood. The lot was originally part of a larger lot that was subdivided, but was never developed over the years.
